Join Catherine and me as we return to Greece for another enchanting island Yoga retreat. This year, we are delighted to welcome you to the magical island of Hydra.

Dates: 2nd–6th May 2024

Hydra is an alluring destination, defined by its enduring charm and distinctive character. With no cars on the island, traditional buildings and striking natural scenery, it has a wonderfully peaceful ambience. Visitors can wander along narrow cobbled lanes, around picturesque harbours and through historic sites.

The island also draws artists and writers, adding to its rich cultural character. Taking in the magical views and slower rhythm of life is an essential part of any stay on Hydra. Offering a welcome escape from everyday busyness, Hydra is an unforgettable destination among the Greek islands.

This yoga retreat provides dedicated time and space to immerse yourself in your yoga practice and holistic wellbeing. Stepping away from the pressures of daily life can help to ease stress, offer a renewed perspective and cultivate a feeling of inner calm and balance.

All practice levels are welcome, with classes adapted to suit the needs of every individual.

How to get there

Travelling to Athens

International travel from South Africa to Athens involves a stopover. Major South African airports, including OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and Cape Town International Airport, often offer flights to Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos). We recommend checking directly with airlines for the latest routes, availability and any travel restrictions. Please also make sure that you have all required travel documents, including a valid passport and any necessary visas.

Airlines include Turkish Airlines, EgyptAir, Qatar Airways and Emirates.

We suggest arriving in Athens at least one day before the retreat begins. The city is certainly worth exploring, and arriving early will also give you greater flexibility when arranging your ferry tickets.

Getting to Hydra from Athens

Hydra lies approximately 64 kilometres south-west of Athens. You can travel from Athens to Hydra by ferry, with the crossing taking around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the ferry type and sea conditions. Ferries from Athens to Hydra generally depart from Piraeus.
