Meta is introducing slimmer, lighter smart glasses that are better suited to prescription lenses.

Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses proved highly successful in 2025, with sales more than tripling. To strengthen their line-up, Meta and EssilorLuxottica announced a range of updates on 31 March focused on design, comfort and inclusivity. Prescription lenses were already available for earlier products, but the new Ray-Ban glasses range should enable more people to wear Meta’s connected devices. It supports “virtually all prescriptions.” Both companies have also made major comfort improvements, allowing the new glasses to be worn throughout the day.

The new rectangular Blayzer Optics glasses and rounded Scriber Optics glasses are both thinner and lighter. Meta also highlights new ergonomic features, including interchangeable nose pads and adjustable temple tips. Alongside their improved comfort, these new glasses retain the same features as previous versions. The products will be available in the United States from $499, and Meta says they will also be sold in selected international markets.

New features are on the way

As well as releasing more comfortable models that better accommodate prescription lenses, Meta has announced fresh colour and style options for the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and Oakley Meta ranges. While it has not introduced new features yet, the company has teased additions coming to its smart glasses this spring and summer. For instance, the group plans to make the glasses’ nutrition-tracking function easier to use. Other developments include a new WhatsApp integration, which will allow Meta AI to summarise messages or answer questions about a conversation’s content-for example, by asking the AI to remind you what a contact suggested for dinner.

Meta Ray-Ban Display gains Reels, games and widgets

The updates Meta is preparing for Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses-the screen-equipped smart glasses that are still unavailable in France-are even more compelling. The company has announced that users will be able to scroll through Instagram Reels videos on the smart glasses display, alongside the arrival of two new games, including 2048. Meta has also revealed widgets for essential information such as reminders, weather, calendars and share prices.
