Condom recall in France: My Lubie, Friday Bae, Okamoto and Sagami affected

Several product lines are affected, including one French brand, with condoms sold online, in pharmacies and through Monoprix stores.

Non-compliant condoms sold in France

France is taking a firmer stance. For several months, condoms that fail to meet requirements have been circulating in the country and have been bought by consumers despite lacking CE marking or any other European conformity assessment. While most were sold online, some were also supplied through pharmacies, across “around thirty product lines”. Many may burst, while others present an even more serious concern: possible perforations.

The 40,000 condoms involved represent roughly 1,000 boxes sold. Alongside the missing CE mark, buyers can identify them by checking the seller, which is most often Asian-based. In its statement issued on 21 August, the government said that the online platforms concerned were mainly major marketplaces. These sites have been notified and asked to remove the identified products immediately. The French state has also instructed them to inform purchasers.

From late May until August, recall campaigns had already been launched for 260,000 condoms across two product lines. The 40,000 units cited on Friday 21 August are among the products identified as having been sold by the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

My Lubie natural latex ultra-thin condoms affected

One product line stands out among the non-compliant condoms flagged in recent weeks and listed on Rappel Conso: My Lubie. Founded in 2020 by Anne Kerveillant, this French brand specialises in intimate products and sells ultra-thin natural latex condoms. The affected condoms were marketed between 23 December 2025 and 22 June 2026. Their main distributor is Amazon, although they were also sold through pharmacies, Monoprix, and retailers including Mademoiselle Bio, Nuoo and Passage du Désir.

The other listed product lines are Friday Bae, Okamoto with its 003 (illustrative image) and 002 products, and Sagami.

Pregnancy tests and STI screening advised by authorities

Given the serious risks to users’ health and safety, including unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, French authorities advise having an STI screening test and taking a pregnancy test if a missed period occurs. They also recommend using only condoms carrying CE marking, which alone confirms that the essential safety requirements for the European market have been met.

Expiry dates are not the issue

Checking the expiry date remains an important step before using a condom, but that is not the concern with these non-compliant units. The recalled batches from My Lubie and other product lines, such as Friday Bae, have expiry dates of 2028 and even 2030.
