Join Tania and me for our first Yoga Retreat in Kythnos, Greece. Together, we will host an Ashtanga and Yin Retreat at the stunning K4Kastellas Villa, in a more secluded location than last year. The Yoga Shala has views across the private beach at Kastellas.
This year’s retreat in Kythnos was a great success. With 92 beaches, famously warm Greek hospitality and easy access from Athens, the island is an ideal setting for annual Yoga retreats.
I am particularly pleased to be co-hosting this retreat with Tania Kemou, a fellow Yoga teacher who was born in Greece and now lives and teaches in Berlin.
Styles of Yoga
Each day includes two Yoga classes.
Tania will lead a morning Ashtanga practice centred on the primary series and the foundations of the Ashtanga method. Classes will explore breath, bandhas (locks), drishti (gaze) and vinyasa. Every session will finish with pranayama (breathing techniques) and a well-earned Savasana (final relaxation).
In the afternoon, I will teach a gentle Yin practice, created to balance the Ashtanga-led class. Yin Yoga involves holding postures for 2-5 minutes, allowing practitioners to concentrate fully on the mental and breath bodies. This complementary practice draws on the principles of meridian lines to stimulate and improve the flow of energy throughout the body.
There will be ample free time between classes to discover the beautiful beaches. A half-day excursion to Chora, Kythnos’ main town, is also included.
Typical Daily Schedule
- 8.30 – 10.00: Ashtanga practice with Tania
- 10.00 – 11.00: Brunch is served
- 11.00 – 16.30: Free time for swimming, booking a massage or walking to the beach
- 17.00 – 18.30: Yin Yoga with Theresa
- 19.00 – 20.00: Dinner time
The opening day begins with a ceremony to help everyone get to know one another a little better. On the final evening, we will hold a special closing ceremony after the last Yin practice. On the final day, the expected finishing time is 10:00 am, following the final Ashtanga class and brunch.
