What is Elysia?

“Back in ancient times, poets like Homer, Pindar and Hesiod described the Champs Elysées (Elysian Fields) in their texts as an idyllic, beautiful and peaceful place where the souls of the fortuned arrived there, and had the opportunity to enjoy and feel the absolute euphoria. It was a divine place “with blooming meadows, where there was eternal spring, and sources of Lethe gushing nectar”
Through their forthcoming Elysia Yoga Convention, the organisers hope to recreate this sense of euphoria. They aim to provide an environment in which Yoga teachers, students and wellness practitioners can thrive while expanding their knowledge and experience.
Where is Amorgos?
Amorgos is among the most beautiful islands in the Aegean Sea and is frequently called the “pearl of the Aegean”. It lies on the southern side of the Cyclades.
With its secluded beaches, Cycladic architecture, powerful magnetic fields and restorative energy, the island has many qualities that make it an ideal setting for the Elysia Yoga Convention.

During the season, daytime ferries travel to Amorgos from Athens, Santorini and Mykonos.

Anyone who teaches or practises Yoga will appreciate how unusual and privileged it is to have the chance to spend a week attending workshops and Yoga classes alongside fellow teachers and Yogi fanatics from around the world.
The aim of the Yoga convention is to bring together people worldwide who share an interest in wellness and well-being. It welcomes those working in the Wellness field, as well as anyone keen to discover and exchange knowledge.
It is a chance to fuse new ideas, inspire, educate and impact teachers and students alike.

Alongside the Yoga workshops and lectures, the organisers have also included an island tour, mystery excursions, trekking and even a special Greek night.
I will be counting down the nights until this Yoga Convention begins, as well as looking forward to taking in the history of Athens before heading home.
