Behind the everyday steak lies an unsettling calculation: how much meat can the planet realistically produce without collapsing?
While meat consumption is still rising in many countries, researchers have begun to identify a figure that changes the debate: a maximum weekly amount that would allow production to continue without destroying the climate and ecosystems.

Researchers at the Technical University of Denmark assessed the environmental effects of meat production worldwide and arrived at a highly specific figure: about 225 grams of meat per person per week would be the upper limit for production to be regarded as sustainable.
